Tinder Hearth is excited to host a group of extraordinary musicians on September 14th! Organized by Maine's Joe K Walsh, this super group of string musicians is on a mini tour, and we are very lucky to have them stopping here with us in Brooksville.
Brittany Haas is widely regarded as one of the most influential fiddlers of her generation. Born in Northern California, Brittany grew up honing her craft at string camps nationwide, and developed her unique style of fiddling at the influence of her mentors, Bruce Molsky and Darol Anger. As a prodigious youth, Haas began touring with Darol Anger’s Republic of Strings at the age of fourteen. At seventeen, she released her debut, self-titled solo album (produced byAnger). Soon she joined the band Crooked Still, with whom she has made four recordings and toured the world. More recently she has been touring as a member of the bands Hawktail, Punch Brothers, the David Rawlings Machine.
Hailed by David Grisman as a “wonderful mandolin player”, and by Darol Anger as “one of the finest mandolin players ever”, Portland, Maine-based musician Joe K. Walsh is known for his exceptional tone and taste, and his collaborations and recordings with acoustic music luminaries including Darol Anger, Brittany Haas, Grant Gordy, Molly Tuttle, Sam Grisman, MikeBlock, Danny Barnes, Scott Nygaard, Matt Flinner, Mike Marshall’s Ger Mandolin Ensemble, and pop-grass darlings Joy Kills Sorrow, a band he co-founded.
Bassist Brittany Karlson is an adventurous musician with roots in jazz, improvised, andAppalachian music. She is an active collaborator and has performed across the USA, Canada, and Europe in a variety of ensemble settings, including improvised trio Letter Castle andAmerican old-time/bluegrass/Swedish string band The Goodbye Girls.
Yann Falquet is a dynamic Québécois guitarist in the world of traditional music. He is a versatile artist who has already explored several styles and, although well-established, continues to deepen his knowledge of both creation and interpretation.
